Beetroot Chops Recipe

This simple recipe prepared in just 10 minutes time be it a side for morning rush hours- breakfast or lunch and dinner. There are a lot of ways to prepare beetroots, whether it is salad, dry-fry, pulaochutney or one of the other ways as in the beetroot chops recipe shown here, this could be a special dish, beetroots in spicy coconut gravy without onions and tomatoes making it easy to prepare.

Ingredients

  1. Beetroot 1 chopped to small or medium size
  2. Coconut 1/2 cup grated
  3. Cinnamon 1 piece
  4. Cloves 2 or 3
  5. Chilli powder 1 teaspoon or homemade sambar powder 1 teaspoon
  6. Garlic 5-6 cloves
  7. Ginger 1/2 inch
  8. Coriander leaves
  9. Curry leaves few
  10. Turmeric 1/4 teaspoon
  11. Pepper corns 1/4 teaspoon

Method

  1. Blend coconut, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, garlic, chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander leaves to smooth paste
  2. Heat 2 teaspoons oil in a pan, add chopped beetroot and curry leaves, stir for few minutes
  3. Add the ground paste and salt mix well, pour in required amount water – here I have added 1 cup
  4. Cook on medium flame with lid covered until beetroots are cooked – give a good mix in-between

How to Make with Step by Step Picture

Wash, peel and chop beetroot to small pieces – recommended to keep it slightly medium sizes not too small

In a mixer jar add coconut, ginger, garlic, home made sambar powder - if homemade sambar powder is not available you can just go with chilli powder or (chilli powder 1 teaspoon +coriander powder 1/2 teaspoon) 

      
   

    Add turmeric powder 

     

       Add pepper corns

       
       

        Add coriander leaves

       

      Blend adding little water to smooth paste

       
            
      Heat a pan add 2 teaspoons of oil, Once oil is heated put curry-leaves and chopped beetroot

      Beetroot Fry Recipe
      

      Sauté for two to three minute, then goes in ground masala paste, and mix well

          

          Stir all together well , add required amount of water and salt

      


          Mix thoroughly and close the lid, cook on medium flame for about three to four minutes or until beetroots are cooked –occasionally give it a stir

      

           Delicious beetroot chops is ready to be served
