Tomato Pappu Recipe | Tomato Pamina Saaru - EverythingTraditional
Today I have come up with a simple and tasty and tangy tomato pappu saaru or tomato pamina saaru as we usually call. In Tamil it is Tomato paruppu masiyal. This a very simple recipe which can be cooked in 15 to 20 minutes. Wash and place all the ingredients in the cooker cook them to soft and mash to smooth mass. Then add thalimpu / thadka / tempering with cumin and mustard.
In South or North we have many recipes with dal or lenthils, in south sambar, masiyal / mosoppu, thovve, rasam, obbottu , sugginaunde, obbottu saaru, bassaru, upsaaru are some of the traditional recipes made from toor dal / togari bele / lenthil.
Tomato pappu saaru is not thick as we get pappu in andra style hotels but this is slightly to sambar consistency, to mix with hot rice. This also is good when served for chapati or roti, dosa.
All time favorite dal recipe side dished with any stir fry vegetable or egg chilly fry or just papad and curd chilli. This is also most liked by kids.
