Green leafy vegetable's benefits are known to everyone and when made this easy and quick its an added benefit to this recipe. Sometimes just this chilkarive soppina palya and pepper-rasam rice makes a filling lunch or dinner. Hence we can use moong dal soaked for about 10 to 15 minutes. On days when we are cooking Toor dal for sambar then remove some cooked dal aside to use up for this Sirukeerai poriya as called in tamil.
