Chilkarive soppu palya or green leafy veg stir fry is a delicious side dish for sambar, rasam or curd rice. Chilkarive soppina palya is a very easy recipe and takes only about 10 minutes to cook.
Green leafy vegetable's benefits are known to everyone and when made this easy and quick its an added benefit to this recipe. Sometimes just this chilkarive soppina palya and pepper-rasam rice makes a filling lunch or dinner. Hence we can use moong dal soaked for about 10 to 15 minutes. On days when we are cooking Toor dal for sambar then remove some cooked dal aside to use up for this Sirukeerai poriya as called in tamil.

Ingredients for Chilkarive soppu palya- Chilkarive Soppu / Siru keerai leaves
- Onions - 1 small - finely chopped
- Garlic cloves - 3 to 4 - crushed
- Soaked Moong dal - 2 tablespoons
- Grated Coconut - 2 tablespoons
Seasoning - oil - 1 to 2 teaspoons
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Urad dal - 1/2 teaspoon
- Chana dal - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red Chillies - 2 to 3

Instructions - Wash Chilkarive Soppu / Siru keerai leaves and chop
- Heat 2 teaspoons of oil in a fry pan, add mustard seeds
- Once mustard splutters add Channa dal and urad dal - Saute for few minutes
- Add Onions, garlic and red chillies, Saute until onions turn to pink color
- Add washed and chopped Chilkarive soppu leaves and also soaked moong dal
- Saute for 2 to 3 minutes, Add Salt and 1/4 cup water and cook the leaves well
- Once Soppu / leaves are cooked, Add grated coconut
Give a thorough mix and switch off the flame

Tips:
Do not turn channa and urad to dark brown, keep them to light pink
Fry onions to slight color change to pink
Add only little water required for cooking the leaves
Add soaked moong dal along with leaves both gets cooked well same time
Do not cover the pan while cooking greens

How to make Chilkarive soppu palya | Siru keerai poriyal | greens Stir Fry With Step-By-Step Pictures
1. Wash Chilkarive Soppu / Siru keerai leaves and chop, and wash and soak Moong dal for about 15- 20 minutes
2. Heat 2 teaspoons of oil in a fry pan, add mustard seeds
3. Once mustard splutters add Cumin/ jeera , Channa dal and urad dal - Saute for few minutes
4. Add Onions, garlic and red chillies, Saute until onions turn to pink color

6. Saute for 2 to 3 minutes, Add Salt and 1/4 cup water and cook the leaves well
7. Once Soppu / leaves are cooked, Add grated coconut
