How to make Chapparda Avarekai Palya - Simple method ! 


Chapparada avarekai or Broad beans dry fry is a tasty stir fry used as side dish for sambar rice, rasam rice, chapati as well. Very simple recipe cooked in just few minutes. This dry fry can be cooked with or without onions and tomatoes, but here in this recipe i used tomatoes and onions with chilli powder.

Most of us are unaware that we can make stir or dry fry in a very simple method which tastes super good and lies perfect for a side dish, completing full meal without any hesitation... one among these are chapparada avarekai which is neglected by many without knowing how to use them in our daily recipes. Even I miss preparing or eating most vegetables on the store without knowing how to infuse in my recipes. So I would suggest to those who have not tried their hands on this healthy vegetable to try this extremely simple dry fry recipe.

Chapparada Avarekai  Palya Recipe | Simple Broad beans dry fry

Ingredients for Chapparada avarekai palya recipe 


  1. Chapparada avarekai /chikkudukai - 1/4 kg
  2. Curry leaves - few
  3. Onion - 1 no. finely chopped
  4. Garlic - 4 to 5 cloves
  5. Tomato - 1 small finely chopped
  6. Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  7. Chilli powder - 1 to 2  teaspoons
  8. Salt 
  9. Oil - 2 table spoons
  10. Mustard - 1/4 teaspoon
  11. Jeera/ Cumin - 1/4 teaspoon
  12. Urad dal - 1/2 teaspoon
  13. Chana dal - 1/2 teaspoon



Instructions  

  1. Wash, and chop Chapparada avarekai / broad beans and onions  

  2.  Heat oil in a sauce pan and add mustard, after mustard splutters add urad and chana dal 

  3. Add onions and curry leaves saute for few minutes 

  4.  Add chopped chapparada avarekai saute for few minutes  

  5. Then add turmeric powder and chilli powder 

  6. Mix well and add salt and tomatoes give a stir and add 1/4 cup water and cover the lid to cook 

  7. Delicious spicy chikkudukai(in telugu) playa is ready


Note:

Add roasted and coarsely crushed peanuts at the end to give a crunch to the dish
